“Taking something imaginary and making others believe that it is real.”

The choice of words in defining acting for kids is important:  “MAKING others BELIEVE.”  Playing “make believe” is a natural part of childhood.  In this sense children already are actors.  Once they realize this they are able to approach it fearlessly.

The Young Actors Project in-school workshops excite kids about drama.  The program helps kids explore their imaginations, deepen their communication skills, and build their confidence - all the while introducing them to drama in a very positive, fun and exciting way.

This program can be brought to any school in the Lower Mainland.  The games and exercises are designed to keep a maximum number of kids actively involved as much as possible.

PROGRAMS

Intro to Acting - Grades K-8

Day 1 - Imagination

Einstein said “imagination is more important than knowledge”.  Through theatre games, exercises and skits the children will undergo “imagination training” and exercise this all important muscle.

Day 2 - Masks

Children will learn how masks are used in drama - both in the past and today.  By incorporating masks into theatre games, children will focus on using their bodies to communicate and tell a story.

Day 3 - Improvisation

Improv teaches the kids to be brave and trust their ideas and abilities.  Stretching their imaginations even further, kids will learn to think both creatively and fast on their feet.  Group improvs will be presented at the end of the class.
